Editor,

We write to support the candidacy of attorney Mike Black for election to the Montana Supreme Court. We are echoing Black’s support by five former Montana Supreme Court justices, a remarkable show of recognition of his character, intelligence and fairness.

Black is a native, fourth generation Montanan. He was raised in a blue-collar railroad family. He came up the hard way, working low paying jobs and was eventually able to complete college and law school. It was no easy task for him; a strong work ethic was developed.

Black has actively practiced law in Montana since 1991, appearing and representing Montanans in all our courts. I was admitted to the Montana Bar in 1975 after my discharge from active duty. Afterwards, I lived and practiced law in Glendive, Anaconda, and Lake County. I have seen a lot of lawyers, judges and justices over the years. Black is a jurist that all parties should feel good about.

My son Kiel took over my practice several years ago and feels the same way: Black has a reputation for scholarship, intellect, fairness, integrity and balance.  We unequivocally support Black’s candidacy.

Cast your ballot for Mike Black for Montana Supreme Court Justice.
