Girls Basketball
Charlo Lady Vikings
Mila Hawk scored a Charlo Lady Vikings’ game-high 12 points on Friday night in a 49-25 road victory over the St. Regis Lady Tigers. With the win, the Lady Vikings head into the postseason with an overall 11-0 record.
Polson Lady Pirates
Mossy Kauley scored a Polson Lady Pirates’ team-high 10 points on Thursday in a 59-18 road loss to the Whitefish Lady Bulldogs. In a make-up game from a COVID-19 protocol cancelation earlier this season, Jaivin Bad Bear led the Lady Pirates with eight points on Friday in a 73-27 home loss to the Columbia Falls WildKats. On Saturday, the Lady Pirates were defeated by the visiting Libby Lady Loggers 48-32. Kauley paced the Lady Pirates with eight points.
Ronan Maidens
The Ronan Maidens fell to the visiting Whitefish Lady Bulldogs 51-29 in Northwestern A girls’ basketball action on Tuesday, Feb. 9. Areanna Burke scored a Maiden team-high eight points. On Saturday, the Maidens picked up their eighth win of the season with a 52-43 road victory over the Stevensville Lady Yellowjackets.
Arlee Scarlets
Lark Thomas scored an Arlee Scarlets’ team-high four points on Tuesday evening, Feb. 9, as the Scarlets lost at home to the visiting Missoula Loyola Breakers 71-9. Raven Parson (16 points) and Princess Bolen (11 points) combined for 27 of the total 41 Scarlet team points in Friday’s 76-41 road loss to the Anaconda Lady Copperheads.
Boys Basketball
Ronan Chiefs
In Northwestern A boys basketball action on Tuesday, Feb. 9, the Ronan Chiefs outpaced the visiting Whitefish Bulldogs 74-49. On Saturday, the Chiefs advanced their current winning streak to three-in-a-row with a 67-38 home win over the Stevensville Yellowjackets.
Polson Pirates
On Thursday, Colton Graham scored a game-high 14 points leading the Polson Pirates to a 59-42 home win over the Whitefish Bulldogs. Also for the Pirates, Trevor Lake scored 13 points followed by Jarrett Wilson who chipped in 12. Graham scored a team-high 19 points on Saturday leading the Pirates to their fifth consecutive win of the season in a 55-44 road victory over the Libby Loggers.
Charlo Vikings
On Friday, the Charlo Vikings wrapped up their regular season with a 71-52 loss on the road to the St. Regis Tigers.
Arlee Warriors
Battling in a District 6B matchup on Tuesday, Feb. 9, the Arlee Warriors fell 64-53 to the visiting Missoula Loyola Rams. Top scorers for the Warriors on the night were Levi Fullerton with 18 points followed by Hunter Brown with 16 points.
Against the hosting Anaconda Copperheads on Friday night, Fullerton scored a Warrior team-high 10 points in a 76-45 loss. In a 76-50 road loss to the Deer Lodge Wardens on Saturday, Ben Harlow led the Warriors with 11 points.
Wrestling
Polson Pirates
Competing in a triangular event on Tuesday evening, Feb. 9, the Polson Pirates traveled to Corvallis where they dropped a 54-24 match to Libby / Troy and battled Beaverhead County (Dillon/ Twin Bridges / Sheridan) to a 36-36 tie.
Against Beaverhead, Pirate wrestlers Jamison Webster (205) and Aaron O`Roake (285) each picked up pin wins, while Gavin Knutson (126) won by pin against Libby/Troy. Also for the Pirates, Micah Craig (120) had wins by pin against both his Libby/Troy and Beaverhead opponents.
On Saturday, the Pirates dropped a 54-14 match to the hosting Frenchtown Broncs. Knutson, Webster and Maysn Cowell (126) all scored wins for Polson.
Ronan Chiefs
Hosting a tri-dual on Tuesday, Feb. 9, the Ronan Chiefs split their matches falling 40-24 to Superior / Alberton while handily defeating Plains / Hot Springs 40-24.
For the Chiefs, wrestlers Landon Bishop (138), Caleb Cheff (145), Daniel Bishop (170), Tristan Fisher (182) and Max Morency (285) each had pin wins over their Plains / Hot Springs competitors.
Against Superior / Alberton Trevor Bartel (126), Landon Bishop, Cheff and Daniel Bishop picked up pin victories.
In Ronan on Friday, the Chiefs won back-to-back matches against Hamilton 43-21 and 41-27 over Corvallis.
Cheff, Bartel and Trapper McAllister each grabbed pin wins against Hamilton, while Ian Dillard (103), Bartel, Beaudean Decker (132), Cheff and Morency defeated each of their Corvallis opponents by pin.
Picking up a pin wins from both Dillard and Morency along with a win-by-decision from Landon Bishop the Chiefs fell 44-27 on the road to Columbia Falls on Saturday.
