POLSON — Local filmmaker David W. King was taking aerial video of the North Lake County Library on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 3:55 p.m. when he heard a loud crash.
“I looked over and saw a big dust cloud,” King said.
With his drone already in the air, King flew it over the scene of an automobile accident on Polson's Armed Forces Memorial Bridge.
King's photos show a small, gray pickup truck with its back wheel laying several feet from the truck. Other photos show responding emergecy crews and traffic backed up on the bridge all the way to town.
Montana Highway Patrol Sargent Shawn Silvan said the gray pickup truck was moving south bound across the bridge when it “drifted over the double yellow line” and hit a semi that was going north in the opposite direction. The pickup continued to drift into the opposite lane and hit another vehicle. The pickup truck driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was injured. “The crash was due to distracted driving,” Silvan said.
