The imposition of sentencing was deferred for a period of three years in a case involving a Polson woman who nearly bit her sister’s ear off.
Ida Marla Rose Couture, 24, was initially charged with felony aggravated assault, but she pled guilty to the reduced charge of criminal endangerment as part of a plea agreement.
According to court records, on April 12, 2020, Polson police responded to a report of a woman yelling and spitting at a man in the area of 11th Street E and 10th Ave. E. At the scene, officers located a man and a woman.
The woman was bleeding from her ear, and she told the responding officers that her sister, who was identified as Couture, had been fighting with her boyfriend when she tried to stop it. She went on to state that Couture began fighting her instead of her boyfriend and bit her ear, “almost tearing it off.”
The officers located Couture about a block away and questioned her. She admitted to nearly biting her sister’s ear off and was arrested.
District Judge James Manley gave Couture credit for 86-days of jail time already served and commended her on “the positive steps” taken since she was arrested. The judge also confirmed that the victim was in agreement with the plea agreement.
