News from Lake County Job Service Employer Committee

LAKE COUNTY — The Lake County Job Service Employer Committee is excited to announce the winner of the 2021 Ken Rohrenbach Scholarship as Victor Perez Carrillo.

Victor is a senior at Polson High School as well as a participant in the SKC STEM Academy. He is an active volunteer in our community, a published wildlife photographer and member of the Polson Boxing Club. He will attend the University of Montana to study sociology with a focus on criminology. Victor was nominated by the scholarship committee for the statewide Fred Unmack Scholarship.

The $1,000 scholarship for a graduating high school senior from Lake County is named after the late Ken Rohrenbach who worked for the Montana Job Service, served on the Polson School Board for 17 years, was a volunteer firefighter and was an ardent supporter of all school activities. The Ken Rohrenbach Scholarship honors students who have shown community involvement, determination and overcome adversity.

Applications for the 2022 Ken Rohrenbach Scholarship will be available in the spring of 2022. JSEC is an advisory committee comprised of area employers and representatives from the Job Service with the goal of identifying and addressing the needs of the business community.

JSEC offers numerous services to the community, including low-cost educational seminars; career enhancement and employment activities; Employer of Choice awards; and the Ken Rohrenbach Scholarship. Membership to JSEC is free and businesses throughout the Mission Valley are encouraged to attend the monthly meetings. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month, Sept. through June, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. For more information, please contact the Job Service at 406-883-7880.
