Football

Polson Pirates

Ranked as the No. 3 Class A football team in the state, the undefeated Polson Pirates put the final touches on the regular season Friday night with a 38-24 road win over the Whitefish Bulldogs.

In a back-and-forth game that saw seven lead changes, the Pirates secured their ninth win of the season in the final seconds of the fourth quarter on a 30-yard Jarrett Wilson pick-six.

On offense, Wilson was 17-for-24 passing for 191 yards on the night with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Wilson also rushed for 147 yards on 23 carries and two touchdowns.

Pirate wide receiver Colton Graham hauled in eight catches for 101 yards and a touchdown. Both Robert Perez and Alex Muzquiz each snagged a pass for a touchdown. 

At 9-0, the Pirates on Nov. 5 or 6, will host a quarterfinal game playing the winner of next weekend’s first round Class A playoff match-up between the Libby Loggers and the Billings Central Rams. 

Mission Bulldogs

On Friday evening during the regular season finale, the Mission Bulldogs pummeled the visiting Plains Horsemen 64-0. 

Friday’s win was the fourth consecutive for the Bulldogs, who in the last four games have outscored their opponents by a margin of 242-20. 

The Bulldogs finish the season as the third seeded Class C, 8-man team out of the west with an overall record of 6-2.

On Saturday, the Bulldogs will face the hosting Joliet J-Hawks in the first round of playoffs.

Charlo Vikings

The Charlo Vikings put the brakes on a two-game losing skid with a 62-16 road win over the Seeley-Swan Blackhawks on Friday evening.

At halftime, the Vikings took a 48-16 advantage into the locker room. 

Friday’s game was the season finale for the Vikings, who finished the year with an overall record of 5-4.

Arlee Warriors

The Arlee Warriors’ road game scheduled for Friday night in Superior was cancelled.

Ronan Chiefs

On Thursday evening, the Ronan Chiefs wrapped up their season at home against the Dillon Beavers. The Beavers defeated the Chiefs 28-0.

 

Volleyball

Arlee Scarlets

The Arlee Scarlets hosted the Loyola Breakers on Monday, Oct 18. The Breakers prevailed over the Scarlets in four sets (25-16, 19-25, 25-22, 25-15.)

On Thursday, the Scarlets traveled to Eureka where the hosting Lady Lions swept Arlee in three straight sets (25-16, 25-11, 25-11.)

Charlo Lady Vikings

On Thursday, the Charlo Lady Vikings travel to Superior for the District 14C volleyball tournament and will have a bye the first round as the No. 1 seeded team. 

Last week, the Lady Vikings wrapped up the regular season with back-to-back wins finishing the year with an overall season record of 9-1.

At home Thursday, the Lady Vikings defeated Hot Springs in straight sets (25-23, 25-22, 25-21.)

On Saturday afternoon, Charlo swept hosting Noxon Lady Red Devils (25-10, 25-21, 25-16.) 

Mila Hawk paced Charlo with seven aces followed by Katelyn Young with 13 digs.

Also for the Lady Vikings, Molly Kate Sullivan posted six kills and three blocks, while Kassidi Cox booked 11 assists and eight kills.

Mission Lady Bulldogs

Hosting Florence on Tuesday, Oct. 19, the Mission Lady Bulldogs struggled against the Lady Falcons falling in three sets (25-9, 25-14, 25-13.)

The Bigfork Valkyries picked up a three set (25-4, 25-14, 25-9) conference victory over the visiting Lady Bulldogs last Thursday.

Ronan Maidens

The Ronan Maidens picked up another on-the-road conference win Tuesday, Oct. 19, as they swept the Whitefish Lady Bulldogs (25-19, 25-23, 25-23.)

Reina Cordova led the Maidens with 13 kills and 11 digs. Also for the Maidens, Rylie Lindquist posted 11 digs, while Leina Ulutoa booked 19 assists followed by Hannah Rowe with 13 assists.

At home on Thursday, the Maidens won their conference match up against the Columbia Falls Wildkats by a score of (25-21, 25-19, 25-17.)

Ulutoa paced Ronan with 14 assists and three blocks, while Cordova floored three aces and had 11 digs. Lindquist posted a Maiden team high 19 digs followed by Olivia Clairmont with nine kills and three blocks.

The Maidens close out the regular season this week with a home game Thursday against the Libby Loggers and a road game against Browning on Saturday.

Polson Lady Pirates

On Thursday, McKenna Hanson booked three aces and 13 kills to lead the Polson Lady Pirates to a three set (25-15, 25-20, 25-13) win over the visiting Whitefish Lady Bulldogs.

Also for the Lady Pirates, Gracie Simonich had three aces and 13 assists on the night, while Liz Tolley posted 14 digs and two blocks. Camilla Foresti had nine kills and 10 digs followed by Avery Starr who had a team high 16 assists.

Simonich had 10 assists, six digs and two blocks Saturday in conference action as the Lady Pirates defeated Browning on the road in straight sets (25-11, 25-14, 25-13.)

Hanson had seven kills and five digs, while Tolley had nine kills and Star booked 13 assists.

Polson closes out their season this week with a home game against the Columbia Falls Wildkats on Thursday and a road game against the Libby Lady Loggers on Saturday.
