Evelyn Allen
CHARLO — Evelyn Howe Allen is with Jesus today, as she was yesterday. She’s walked with Him her whole life and is home now, in that peaceful place. (Quoted from Jack Weber, her grandson.) She passed away on Nov. 28, 2021.
Evelyn was born on May 18, 1932, in Dupuyer, to Tom and Lillian (Jones) Howe. She attended Fish Lake School and Conrad High School, graduating in 1950. She married John Edward Allen in 1950. They had a farm in Valier. In 1970 they started B and J Implement in Charlo.
Evelyn was a member of Valier Lutheran Church and after they moved to Charlo, she was a member of Faith Lutheran in Ronan. She loved to sew. The Lutheran Ladies sewed many quilts each year for Lutheran World Relief. For years she made a quilt for each graduating senior who was a member of Faith Lutheran. She was a representative for Aid Association for Lutherans for many years and helped with several benefits. For years she drove Medicab, taking people to doctor appointments when they had no way to travel there themselves. She and Johnnie square danced for years and taught round dance classes. She loved sewing their fancy, matching dance outfits. She did all these things because of her deep love for people.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, John Allen of Charlo; her daughters, Donna Ridgway and her husband Robert of Vaughn, and her daughter, Sheila Orth and her husband Dale, of Billings; her grandchildren, Rachelle Orth Elliott-Draper of Utah, Allison Orth Napolitano of Billings, Brittany Orth Wolff of Helena, Jack Weber of Portland, Oregon, and Bonnie Clark of St. Ignatius; 11 great- grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.
