Charlo track squads do well at Lake County, Seeley-Swan meets

Competing against larger schools doesn't seem to be a problem for the Charlo Vikings.
The Vikings came within nine points of winning the Lake County Meet in Ronan Tuesday and finished just two points behind Florence at the Seeley-Swan Invitational in Missoula Saturday.
Stephen Delaney continued his domination of the hurdles in Ronan Tuesday as he finished first in the both the 110 and 300-meter hurdle events to help Charlo compile 103 points for a second-place finish. Charlo finished behind only Polson, which won the meet with 112 points.
Delaney was also a member of the Vikings' 400- and 1,600-meter relay teams, which also won first at the meet and was second in the 400-meter run.
Chico Stipe also had a great day for the Vikings Tuesday, finishing first in the 200-meter dash and as a member of the 400-meter relay team. Chance Rosenbaum was first in the 800-meter run and the pole vault and also took third in the high jump.
Also for the Vikings at the meet, Michael Smith was second in the 3,200-meter run and third in the 1,600-meter event, Tra Ludeman was second in the 110-meter hurdles, third in the 300-meter hurdles and fourth in the 100-meter dash, Tyler Delaney was fourth in the 200-meter dash, Daniel Blevins was fourth in the discus and Jacen Petersen was fifth in the 800-meter run and the javelin.
Stephen Delaney made another strong showing at the Seeley-Swan Invitational on the campus of Missoula Big Sky Saturday as he once again won both the 110 and 300-meter hurdles and was a member of Charlo's first-place winning 400-meter relay team.
Charlo also picked up a first-place finish in the pole vault as Rosenbaum won the event after clearing 12 feet, 6 inches.
Overall, the Vikings finished second with 82 points, just two points behind meet winner Florence.
The Lady Vikings did not win a single event at the Lake County Meet in Ronan Tuesday but used several high finished to come in second. Charlo finished with 81.5 points but the Lady Vikings could not keep up with Class A Polson, which won the meet with 157.5 points.
Aspen Runkel led the way for the Lady Vikings with second-place finishes in both the 400-meter run and the 100-meter hurdles while also coming in third in the 300-meter hurdles. Deondra Brown was second in the 100-meter dash and third in the 200-meter event while Rachel Hoyt was third in the high jump and second in the 300-meter hurdles. Dawn Blevins was second in the javelin and fourth in the 800 and 1,600-meter runs, Jordan Bilile was fifth in the 400-meter run, Mackenzie Foust was second in the 3,200-meter run and fifth in the 1,600-meter run, Jordan Ludeman was fourth in the pole vault and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles and Derika Stipe was third in the pole vault.
The Lady Vikings relay teams came in second in both the 400 and 1,600-meter races.
The Lady Vikings had to settle for a fourth-place finish in Missoula Saturday as they scored 59 points to finish behind Florence, Thompson Falls and Superior at the Seeley-Swan Invitational.
Runkel again led the way for the Lady Vikings as she finished first in the 400-meter run, third in the 100-meter hurdles and was a member of the first-place winning 1,600-meter relay team (along with Brown, Hoyt and Blevins). Blevins was second in the 800-meter run and the javelin, Brown was fifth in the 100 and 200-meter dashes, Ludeman was sixth the 300-meter hurdles and the pole vault and Hoyt was third in the high jump. The Lady Viking 400-meter relay team finished third at the meet.
Both teams will back in action Thursday as they compete in the District Meet in Polson.
