Although no one in the Mission Valley Choral Society is sure how long the group has been presenting its annual concert, Glen Timm, a MVCS member, believes it started in 1954.
This year the main concert will be held on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Joining the MVCS will be the Flathead Flute Choir and the Copeland Memorial Ringers.
“The theme of the concert this year is Gloria in Excelsis,” Mason Niblack, MVCS director noted.
Music will range from very, very old tunes to songs from the last 10 to 15 years, including “Angels We Have Heard on High” and “Born in Bethlehem,” a calypso tune.
One of the songs the FFC will play is “He is Born, the Holy Child,” a French carol from the 1800s.
The MVCS will also be part of the historic living windows on Main Street on Dec. 9 and will perform at Page by Page Books.
According to Niblack, the group will perform smaller concerts but more concerts during the Christmas season, such as a concert at St. Joseph’s Retirement Community.
“We are going to the people,” Niblack explained.
