FLORENCE — The Mission Bulldogs’ Friday night football game ended with a 44-20 Bulldog loss. According to head coach Rich Ferris, the Falcons recovered two muffed punts within the Bulldogs’ 20-yard line and scored on both possessions. The second half saw Mission successfully move the ball and eventually score on two drives.

“The game was a loss, but the second half experience helped improve the team’s overall football knowledge and experience,” Ferris said.

Two late Florence scores were made possible because of a young replacement for injured center Nikko Alexander, Ferris added, but his mostly inexperienced line battled until the end of the game and improved by gaining experience and knowledge.

Ryce Hegwood had 13 carries for 118 yards rushing, and Dylan Evans and Steven Bravo each scored a touchdown.

Evans also completed two passes to Jarrod Brown for 32 yards and a touchdown.

On defense, Barret Sargent chalked up nine tackles and two assists, while Raymond Matt added eight tackles and an assist. Will Powell and Evans weren’t far behind, with seven and six tackles respectively.

The Bulldogs host Loyola Friday at 7 p.m.
