RONAN — Volunteer duty found six club members and two staff from the Boys and Girls Club picking up trash along U.S. Highway 93 recently. For the past several years, the club has engaged in cleanup activity between the scenic turnout south of Ronan past S&S Sports to the Charlo turnoff.
Earlier this month, with the guidance of unit director Lee Schnase and program aide Ed Running Rabbit, six volunteers from the club managed to clean the east side of the highway. About a dozen bags of garbage, mostly food and beverage containers, were left for the highway department truck to retrieve. The other side will be finished on another day when kids will be at the club from noon until six p.m.
It wasn’t all work, however, as the kids and staff ended their task with pizza and beverages donated by Stageline Pizza of Ronan.
