RONAN — Mission Valley United Methodist Church congregation would like to take this opportunity to introduce our new pastor, Derf Bergman and his wife Jay Bergman to the Mission Valley.
Derf grew up in Bath, Ill. He is a lifelong Methodist and now a United
Methodist. He received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Montana and his Master of Divinity from Boston University.
He has had 28 years of pastoral experience in all sizes and types of churches, serving Maple Street United Methodist Church in Lynn, Mass., First United Methodist Church in Sheridan, Wyo., Granite County Parish in western Mont., Libby United Methodist Church, Evangelical United Methodist Church in Billings, and First United Methodist Church in Miles City.
He and his wife, Jay, an employee at True Value Hardware in Ronan, have three sons, Micah, Isaiah, and Jonah. Micah is a chef in Portland. Isaiah is a recent graduate of Pacific Northwest College in Portland and is looking for a school to finish his undergraduate work. Jonah graduated from high school last spring and is now attending the University of Montana and lives in St. Ignatius.
Pastor Derf’s interests include preaching, worship, teaching, and
planning/goal-setting/visioning. He enjoys pastoral care and the rhythm of congregational life. He prefers to serve people and communities in ways that lead to physical and spiritual healing and wholeness. We at MVUMC are happy to welcome Pastor Derf to the beautiful Mission Valley.
