Editor,

The SD 6 race is a tale of two very different women. Janna Taylor, the Republican candidate, often takes extreme positions despite the assertion that she represents all the people in her district. How do you represent all the people when you support the blueprint for Montana to secede from the USA (HJ 14)? Ridiculous. How do you represent all the people when you vote to cut the Healthy Montana Kids program (HB 2-45), cut prescription drug assistance for seniors, and raise tuition on Montana students (HB 2)? She even took a swat at Montana traditions by voting to support efforts to close off hundreds of miles of rivers and streams from those seeking to hunt, fish, float or recreate (HB 309) and opposed the acquisition of new public lands for hunting and other forms of recreation (HB 272).

On the other hand, Nancy Lindsey, the Democratic challenger to Janna Taylor, is a very different personality. An unusually considerate and polite individual, Nancy wants to know what you think and is willing to sit and quietly listen while you share your dreams and concerns. She asks thoughtful questions that explore the issues from both sides and tries to come to sound, rational decisions that are in the interest of people, not party. With a degree in both engineering and business, she was the co-founder of Black Mountain Software in Polson, which employs about 35 people; has taught in local schools, including Two Eagle River, and is a passionate supporter of education who has served nearly 10 years on the Polson school board. She’s also a mother of three and a grandmother who understands family issues.

Nancy is ready to roll up her sleeves and get to work for you – all of you. For significant change, give her a chance on Nov. 6.
