Editor,

Nowadays whenever you see US maps on TV, Montana is red. If we elect any in the Republican litany of lemons running in Montana, we should all turn red-faced with shame.

Consider recent history:

1. Senator Conrad Burns (R) lost reelection because of relations with criminal lobbyist Jack Abramoff. He was named one of the 20 most corrupt members of Congress with the lowest approval rating of any U.S. Senator.

2. Governor Marc Racicot (R) decimated Montana Power through reckless deregulation and irresponsible investments. As a lobbyist at Rudy Giuliani’s law firm, his clients included notoriously disreputable Enron. His Lt. Governors were Denny Rehberg and Judy Martz.

3. Judy Martz (R), our next governor, became infamous for copious scandals, off colored comments and an approval rating of 20 percent. She left Montana’s economy in shambles after her failed one term.

4. Denny Rehberg (R) became Montana’s only representative in the U.S. House. He’s known for his abuse of power to push through covenants for his subdivided mansion ranch, suing firemen, and recurrent drunken escapades. His biggest accomplishment? Avoiding arrest seems to be the best Denny’s done for us while enriching himself.

In November, we’ll choose among these people to represent our great state: Jon Tester or Denny Rehberg (US Senate); Steve Bullock or Rick Hill (Governor); Kim Gillan or Steve Daines (US Representative); and Pam Bucy or Tim Fox (Attorney General).

Rehberg, Hill, Daines, and Fox remain consistent with past Republican malpractice. Their purely selfish goals remain resolute as they unabashedly proclaim phony religious “values” to bamboozle voters. Electing them would yield devastating results, as proven through experiences with their failed philosophies.

As George W. Bush said: “… fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can’t get fooled again.” Please don’t let Montana be humiliated again. Vote Democratic next month.
