This year, I have identified seven areas of focus for 2012-13, based upon the input and feedback from students, employees and community members.
Our first goal is to increase student achievement by 10 percent this year. This will involve individualizing and monitoring the learning of each student.
Our second goal is to provide staff development in the new Common Core Standards, develop collaborative working and communication within schools and from school to school.
Third, we will develop and coordinate programs and procedures to shape the character of students, nurture intellect, and build skills for wellness so that each student can achieve their dreams.
Fourth, we will actively seek partnership with the community to meet the needs of students. A Community Action Team has been formed to assist with facilities planning and soon we will launch Graduation Matters Polson.
Fifth, this year, we intend to develop a Facilities Master Plan by strategically planning the future of Polson Schools.
Sixth, we will address the cultural and academic needs of our Native American students through coordination with the Indian Education committee at each school.
Finally, we will develop a plan to increase the use of technology by our teachers in instruction to better prepare our students for the 21st Century.
Together, we will do great things for students this year.
