Don’t condone abortion

In Vickie Hitchcock’s letter titled “Pro-life or pro-death?” she correctly points out that there are many societal issues that lead to a woman’s decision to seek an abortion, including lack of personal responsibility, financial problems, etc. The contributing factors that lead to a negative environment in society are many and complex; they must be addressed both individually and corporately for the benefit of all. But the question of whether abortion is the answer to avoiding, escaping or alleviating the potential hardships in life is not complicated. It is truly a matter of life or death: the baby’s. The question must be asked, “How we can condemn the action of the mother who takes the lives of her born children to escape the pressures of life and yet condone the mother of an unborn child who does the same?” I pray the answer is we cannot condone either action.
