Editor,

Tribal Veteran Representatives have been given Tribal Council directive to provide assistance to military veterans — tribal members and non-member veterans living on the reservation. Lloyd Jackson, Mary Rogers and Bill Rogers work aggressively to make sure our reservation veterans receive their justly deserved benefits. In this past decade we have helped qualify many individuals for their benefits.

Active military personnel also need assistance from time to time, but it is more difficult because the need is immediate, and time constraints produce roadblocks. These roadblocks or obstacles are often overcome by private sector businesses willing to help. As TVRs, seeing businesses display their patriotism with, “We support our troops,” makes the heart feel good, and when a business steps up without hesitation to assist military families in need monetarily, it deserves recognition.

The KwaTaqNuk Resort is that kind of business. The TVRs of the reservation wish to extend our deepest gratitude to the KwaTaqNuk Resort board, staff and especially Sheila Matt, for providing a military family the opportunity to spend 24 hours with a family member preparing to leave for Afghanistan.

KwaTaqNuk Resort immediately accepted our request and expedited the process and delivered their contribution to the military family.

Thank you, KwaTaqNuk; your generosity is greatly appreciated.
