Editor,

First, let me assure the readers of this letter that I am in no way trivializing those afflicted with cancer or MS or any other devastating illness. Mrs. Romney and Mrs. Rehberg have both experienced these terrible diseases and, fortunately, are apparently doing well.

However, I think the larger issue has been ignored. Given the wealth of both Rehberg and Romney, there is no doubt in my mind that both of these women had access to the very best health care and treatment money could buy.

Neither of these candidates has the slightest idea what such diagnoses mean to the majority of Americans. They did not have to worry about which treatment was covered by their insurance. They did not have to worry about “pre-existing conditions,” huge co-pays or large deductibles. They did not have to exhaust their savings, pull their children out of college, go into debt or even sell their homes so medical bills could be paid.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the rest of us could have access to the same health care as these two women? President Obama gave us the Affordable Health Care Act, which both Rehberg and Romney have vowed to repeal. Apparently, only the wealthy deserve the access to best health care this nation has to offer.
