Editor,

At about 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18, my dad and I were on our way home from Polson. As we came up the hill, we noticed a Montana Highway up about eight cars from us. We got to the part where you are to slow down to 45 in Pablo. I have always noticed that many people don’t slow down to 45; they are always going faster. Well, I now understand why: the Montana Highway Officer was speeding through that area also. He didn’t have his lights on, so just because he is an officer doesn’t mean he should be able to speed through that area.

Aren’t the highway patrol supposed to be an example for the rest of us? Why is it ok for them to drive faster then 45 when, if he or any other cop saw someone speeding through there, he wouldn’t even think twice about giving someone a ticket for speeding through that area? There are a few good reasons we need to all slow down to 45 in that area, and it is because of the college and the people crossing the highway. Believe it or not, it, too, is a town called Pablo, Mont. I am still wondering why it was ok for the officer to speed through that area just because he is an officer; instead, he should be setting an example. Let’s uphold the laws for everyone, not just some and not the rest.
