RONAN — “A trip back in time.” That is the theme for this year’s 12th annual St. Luke Community Foundation dinner Sept. 14 at the Ronan Community Center and Fairgrounds.

A Special Ronan Centennial Soiree will feature photos and fun facts focusing on the first 100 years of existence for the city of Ronan and the rich history of the Mission Valley. To cap the evening, Montana favorites Rob Quist and Jack Gladstone will salute images of the early West through songs and stories.

“Everybody is encouraged to come in western attire, especially turn-of-the-century wear if they have it, for a great time with friends, wonderful music, great food and another exciting silent auction,” says St. Luke Foundation executive director Gayle Wilhelm.

Adding to the ambiance of the evening, St. Luke employee and pianist Chelsea Lipscomb will be playing tunes on an old-time upright piano. Plus, Marvin Walchuk, also from St. Luke, is scheduled to perform rope tricks while demonstrating his horsemanship skills as a part of the evening’s entertainment.

Tickets are $75 each with proceeds to benefit the St. Luke Foundation programs, such as free screening mammograms for uninsured women and “starter kits” and hearing tests for newborns in the birthing center.

In addition to the music of Rob Quist and Jack Gladstone, a highlight of the evening will the drawing of the raffle winner of a weeklong trip for two into the Bob Marshall Wilderness with the Cheff Guest Ranch and Outfitters. Raffle tickets for the trip that is valued at $4,620 are $10 each.

“I went into the Bob with the Cheffs in 2008, and believe me, it’s a trip of a lifetime,” according to Wayne Fuchs, community outreach coordinator for St. Luke. “Especially the way the Cheffs take care of you while you’re in there.”

The scenic adventure on horseback includes opportunities for fishing, hiking, swimming and a visit to the famed Chinese Wall.

Tickets for the dinner or for the wilderness raffle are available through the St. Luke Foundation office or by phoning Wilhelm at 528-5324.
