Editor,

Iran is not a nation friendly to the U.S., but we must acknowledge that this administration’s war is largely an attempt to hijack the global narrative and drown out the many failures of our current administration.

This is a cold-blooded war of distraction….from the president’s plummeting in the polls; from the Epstein files; from general corruption (including pardons of criminals who really should not be among us); from the coming economic chaos related to tariffs and overspending; from the decay of important institutions due to lack of funding; from significant depletion of Medicare and Social Security funds; from the widespread use of ICE as a quasi-military force answerable only to the president; from the planned building of enormous ICE Detention Centers across the country). Recent revelations from the Epstein files seem only to have been the final trigger.

There is a multi-pronged assault on democracy in this country, and, as we protest this war, we should not look up from these issues.

We should write/call our representatives; let the press know we expect continued coverage of these important domestic issues, as well as the role of distraction in this war; and work to form community coalitions to resist this nonsense.
