Editor,
Not very often do we get to hear much from or about the candidates for Supreme Court. Local voters will have an opportunity to hear presentations by Montana Supreme Court Justice candidates Laurie McKinnon and Ed Sheehy at a forum hosted by the Ronan High School government class at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 10, in the Ronan School Fine Arts Center.
Supreme Court Justices serve a term of eight years. Their rulings carry the same weight as laws passed by the Montana Legislature and greatly affect the lives of every citizen.
The Supreme Court is one of the three branches of our state government and it is amazing how little we end up knowing about the people who get elected. Who is elected does make a difference in how our laws are interpreted and it does impact the future of our state.
Take some time out of your busy schedule to learn about these candidates so you can make an informed vote in this upcoming election.
