Editor,
School sports have started up again in Lake County, and as the president of the Polson High School Athletic Booster Club, I would just like to thank the medical providers in our community for their continuing help and support for our school and athletes.
First, I would like to thank the administration and medical providers of St. Joseph Medical Center for providing sports physicals in the spring and fall to our athletes, and then donating the fee back to the schools and booster clubs. This year, the booster club received a donation of $6,270 from St. Joseph Medical Center, which will be used to help purchase equipment, uniforms and other necessities for our athletes and sports programs. With school budgets stretched as they are, and at the same time, facing rising costs for everything, our athletic programs rely on the financial support of the booster club to help our student athletes participate in sports. In turn, the booster club relies on the support of our community and the generosity of organizations like St. Joseph Medical Center.
Secondly, I would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. Dan Rausch, a family doctor from Polson Health and orthopedic physician assistant Rob Alfiero with St. Luke Community Healthcare for the volunteer medical coverage that they have provided for Polson home competitions for many years. These two medical providers have volunteered countless hours to offer their expertise on the sidelines of football games, softball, basketball and volleyball tournaments, wrestling duals and track meets. What may have started as a way to get a closer view of the action, as both men have children that have played all of those sports, is now simply a way for them to stay involved and give back to their community.
We are fortunate to live in this beautiful valley with people and organizations that care about our schools and our children. Go Pirates.
