Ronan man charged with federal drug crimes

MISSOULA — A 30-year-old Ronan man pleaded not guilty Jan. 17 in federal court to charges of conspiracy to distribute marijuana and the use of a communications facility in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime. Thomas Joseph Spotted Eagle is currently released on special conditions. If convicted, he faces possible penalties of a mandatory minimum of five years and could be sentenced to 40 years, a $2,000,000 fine, and four years supervised release. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica T. Fehr is the prosecutor for the United States. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Task Force.
