Editor,

Last week was the anniversary of the deadly Roe v. Wade, the decision that make it legal to end the life of this country’s smallest and most helpless of citizens: pre-born babies.

My heart goes out to those who have been deceived into believing this lie that legally robs mothers, fathers, family members, friends and our communities of unique individuals of the human race with so much potential. But I believe your precious little ones are safe in the arms of Jesus now.

Those of us who realize what a horrible act abortion is must speak up for our pre-born fellow citizens, who are in danger of being killed every day by the thousands. I wrote this poem to help us remember:

You should have been babes in arms; that’s the really sad part.

You should have been held close, so close to mother’s heart.

Swaddled and cared for and loved just the same as the precious soul you are and given a name.

But your mother was lied to, violated and worse.

Made accomplice to your death, though you never got a hearse.

She may not even understand what happened that day.

But she’s haunted by sorrows that don’t go away.

And the perpetrator won’t admit what he or she has done.

They’ve got their money; their degree was won.

And the government put its seal on the whole grisly deed.

Though it’s killing its future and the people it will need.
