POLSON — Big Productions, a fundraising venture of the Lake County Youth Home, brings concert pianist Mike Strickland to the Polson High School stage on Thursday, Feb. 7, for a 7:30 p.m. pops concert. This concert is co-sponsored by Les Schwab Tires in Ronan.

Born in Jackson, Miss. in 1953, Mike’s deep-south influences provided the foundation for an eclectic musical style that encompasses popular, blues, boogie-woogie, and jazz genres as well as original works. His Southern easy-going charm, sparkling arrangements, and superb musicianship are highlights of his performances across the nation.

Concert pianist Mike Strickland has established himself as a prolific recording artist, releasing 22 CDs to date on his own label, MSP Records. His CDs have sold over 350,000 copies and are distributed in the USA and digitally throughout the world.

As a composer, Mike has always been inspired and driven by melody. He also loves to experiment with motion and texture, using the piano as his own orchestra. He has developed his own unique style of piano artistry and has racked up some impressive achievements.

Mike continues to perform, teach, arrange, produce and record and has helped produce and/or arrange over 60 projects of other artists ranging from solo piano projects to vocal groups.

Mike Strickland’s Mission Valley performance would not be possible without the dedicated local series sponsors and their donations, which are crucial to the event’s success.

The series is made possible in part by the Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF), Montana Performing Arts Consortium Presenter Development Program, which is supported by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Montana Arts Council and a legislative grant from Montana’s Cultural Trust.

Single tickets are available for only $12 ($14 at the door). Remember, 18 and under are free for “Series” concerts, thanks to the Lake County Youth Home, but children 11 and under need to be accompanied by a ticket-holding adult.

Due to a change in schedule, Mike’s name won’t be on the ticket for this show, but it will work anyway on Feb. 7.

Tickets are available from Shannon Nunlist Physical Therapy (first driveway on the right, southbound from the junction of Highways 35 and 93) and The Terrace at 308 Main in Polson, or from Hanson and Granley True Value Hardware in Ronan. Concertgoers can also get tickets by emailing cmc@usana.com or calling (406) 370-1527.
