Editor,
Anyone with half a brain can see where this “war on terrorism” is heading. If you are dissatisfied with corruption in government, you get labeled anti-government and might be a terrorist. The news today always calls protesters in Egypt, Libya, Syria, etc., anti-government. They are not anarchist. In America today, peaceful protesters are classified “low grade terrorists.” There is nothing more un-American than trusting your leaders. “The price of freedom is eternal vigilance,” Thomas Jefferson said.
Homeland Security wants to know everything about everyone so they can stop terrorists before they act. That is exactly what the Nazi Gestapo said they were doing after they themselves burned down the German Parliament building and blamed it on communist terrorism. Government knowing and/or controlling everything is the definition of tyranny. Freedom is the only solution. Controlling everything is not a solution, but rather a way of institutionalizing terrorism.
Fifty years ago, police were taught to maintain the peace, which is a natural state in a free society. Today, police are taught that there will be inevitable chaos unless the people are properly managed. The United States Constitution was created to manage and limit government, not people. People are meant to be free, to do anything they want, as long as they do not damage anyone’s life, liberty, or property, and to damage someone’s liberty is to restrict their free exercise of their rights to do anything, as long as they do not damage anyone’s life, liberty, or property.
To put this in a Christian context, controlling everything from a centralized source is Satan rebelling from God — life — and making the world in his own image, all the while convincing believers it is all for their own good and safety. With God’s — life’s — plan we learn from every action and every reaction, limited only by that which we allow ourselves to perceive. And we are constantly being coerced into constructing belief barriers that limit our considerations. Believing others gives others control of you. Liars are of no effect without believers. God (life) would have us obey our conscience, not obey other people who are obeying other people who are obeying other people. Christ is your conscience, not one human to be idolized.
