Justice of the Peace Diane Barz dealt with the following cases Aug. 24-30:

Lindy M. Pinson, 33, forfeited a $500 bond plus a $50 fine and $35 in court costs for speeding, traveling 65 miles per hour in a 45-mph zone (Pinson was cited for the offense in December 2007). 

Evelyn Gonzalez, 32, pleaded no contest to driving a motor vehicle while privilege to do so is suspended or revoked. She was sentenced to 180 days in jail, 175 suspended, and fined $350 plus $35 in court costs. If she provides proof of a valid driver’s license, two days of jail will be waived. 

Alandus Dan Thomas, 37, entered an Alford plea to criminal posession of dangerous drugs, marijuana (60 grams or less), first offense. He was found guilty and fined $200 plus $85 in court costs. 

Justin Wayne Palmer, 29, pleaded not guilty to reckless driving, first offense. In a plea agreement, Palmer was sentenced to 90 days in jail, 87 suspended, and fined $250 plus $85 in court costs. He received credit for one day served and must complete the rest of the jail time by Oct. 21. 

Juan Garcia, 19, pleaded not guilty to possessing intoxicating substances while under the age of 21 (over age 18), first offense. He was found guilty and fined $100. 

Rebecca Ann McAllister, 48, pleaded not guilty to reckless driving, first offense. She was found guilty, sentenced to 90 days in jail, all suspended, and fined $300 plus $35 in court costs.
