Editor,
Why does it always seem to come down to “leadership vs. us”? Why is it that nothing worthwhile seems to get through the government sieve and filter down to us? Government is government; federal, state, tribal, county, city – it is all elements of the same concept: the “we got’s” and the “you don’t’s.” The more we think it changes, the more it stays the same; it just becomes more emboldened and obvious.
So, now we’re being told by the state and the tribal geniuses that us simple folk don’t need to know or understand how we’re about to get taken to the cleaners – just sit back and enjoy the ride. We aren’t intelligent enough to understand the complexity of their manipulations and deceit, and anyone who thinks different is a traitor to us all. Yeah, right.
The Revolutionary War was fought and won by a very small, extremely motivated, outmanned, outgunned, out-trained, but reasonably intellectual band of miscreants who seemed to understand the concept of “self determination,” something our collective “leaders” now find themselves up against. Labeling those who can see the forest through the trees as a “small vocal, organized, group throwing slants (what’s a slant?), insults and incorrect claims at a process that is shared by the tribes, state, feds and irrigators” (wink, wink) is the sign of frustration and looming defeat. Evil, deceit, graft and greed will not see the light of day in this part of the world, no matter how much energy these so-called leaders expend on the us at the bottom of their heap; tribal and non-tribal alike.
This current compact will destroy this valley, for everyone, equally; it is not gender or race-specific. If you were planning on passing anything down to your children or grandchildren, what do you figure it will be worth without water? Ask the feds; they are the true culprits, who care absolutely zero about you. Remember, the feds will hold everything we give up now, in trust for the tribes, and will therefore control it. Boy, that gives me a warm and comfortable feeling.
