Editor,

We have spoken at designated community centers around the Flathead Indian Reservation at the Tribal Council’s request we do so (to discuss) payment to each tribal member individual in September 2012.

Why had the Tribal Council put upon the people to fight for what is theirs and already settled to distribute to each tribal member supposedly $20,000 apiece, then dropped to $10,000? They said the other half will come later once the petition confusion is straightened out with all the signatures. Is this time for interest to build to what has been lost?

We are supposed to be one of the richest tribes. I see no rich Indians walking around driving new cars or living in fancy homes or having $400 in pocket change to hand out. I see Indians struggling to get by every month, hocking their possessions to make ends meet and living on food stamps and getting handouts to survive each month. This is the richness of our tribe? I am sure next election for Tribal Council, the factors are going to weigh different, because we the people shouldn’t have to fight for our money. We the people were put on reservations not by our own people.
