Editor,

And now I see a new headline I had not seen before. It relates to the fear of a military conflict between NATO and Russia over oil in the Arctic.

When will we, as a human race, ever come to a place of reason, peace, cooperation, and sensibility? Just look at our world today. Can we name one situation facing us globally in which the world has found a real attempt at agreement, a cooperative attitude, and a sense of unselfish purpose? I daresay we cannot. Can we name one nation in this world that is attempting to reach out to other nations in a cooperative way, putting the good of the whole above their own narrow objectives and their internal security against the fear of attack? I daresay we cannot.

This is a sad, sad commentary on human life on this planet. I do believe we could learn much from the so-called “animal kingdom” in this regard. Think about it.

All the great spiritual leaders, prophets and seers through the ages have spoken of this human tendency to anger, fear, war and obscene power over others. It seems to me we must listen and begin to change our mindsets, our thinking habits, our ways of relating to one another and our earth home.

The time is now.
