POLSON — Hu Beaver, Mission Valley Aquatics board president, presented the MVA case for a zero lease on five acres of city land on Kerr Dam Road at the Dec. 20 Polson City Commission meeting. MVA is considering the land for its pool project.

“Mission Valley Aquatics wants to know if the city would be of the kind nature to give us a zero lease if we were to purchase the building (old Tamsco building on Kerr Dam Road),” Beaver asked.

City manager Todd Crossett said there has been a “lot of pretty spirited debate” on where the MVA should build the pool.

The commissioners voted to lease the five-acre property to MVA for $100 per year if they buy the old Tamsco building for the pool. The motion was amended to preclude potential future litigation by MVA.

In other business, the commissioners voted to accept the Polson Redevelopment Agency’s recommendation to use $50,000 in tax increment funds to go towards landscaping, benches, lights, etc., for the Streetscape Project.

The first reading of Ordinance #661, to revise chapter 14.10, regulation of public trees passed.

Parks Superintendent Karen Sargeant said this ordinance would allow the Park Board to absorb the Tree Board and allow Polson to remain a Tree City USA.

Brodie Moll, Ron Normandeau and Mike Lies were reappointed to the Board of Adjustment. Todd Erickson was reappointed and Ken Siler was appointed to the City/County Planning Board.

The next commission meeting will be held Monday,

Jan. 3 at 7 p.m.
