Editor,

TIF is and will be a tax on the people of Lake County. It starts out small and increases yearly. The graph I saw was horrifying after the first five years. Do we really want to strap our children with this expense? Life is tough enough. I know there are other ways and options available.

I agree that Riverside Park needs a new dock with fishing access. I think a small fee could be added to the boat license ($7) and fishing license ($3) for the people who use the dock. That money would add up quickly and help with the cost to build and maintain.

I know there are better grants and funding available for park projects, organizations and communities. It takes a lot of searching, but you can find a better source to pay for the dock.

I say no to the idea of the bridge under the bridge. Keep the parks separated. I shudder at the thoughts I envision of all the bad things that could happen because the bridge was built. We should be thinking about the small children and their safety.
