On Friday, Christmas Eve, there was a story on Missoula television station KPAX 10 o’clock news about the Lake County commissioners discussing how to give back an overcharge for the Polson Rural Fire District taxpayers.
If this is true, why haven’t the Lake County commissioners informed us through our local newspapers?
Apparently the public outcry caused by the proposed Rural Fire Board’s “accident tax” has unearthed the over-taxation.
Please check your tax bill for 2009 and 2010. The Polson Rural Fire District residents should be paying 8 mils for operational expenses and 5 mils for the truck levy.
Please attend the next Rural Fire District Board meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Fairground Fire Station and demand an explanation and a refund.
