Editor,

Ok, I tried to keep quiet; I tried to leave my pen idle; but I can’t do it any longer.  Every time I open the paper to read it, Michael Gale is in there, causing severe nausea. I really shouldn’t even respond to his pathetic, closed-minded “inside the box” rubbish, but those of you who know me know I write what most people want to but can’t and don’t. First of all, Mr. Gale, when are people like you going to quit referring to our people, our tribe, as an “exclusive club” and realize we are indigenous and we have been robbed for hundreds of years of our culture, heritage, language, land, water, etc., (I could go on and on there), by people with the same mindset as you? When are you going to realize our people never wanted to be part of your “melting pot”? All we wanted was to be left alone, but no, people like you want more, more, more, until there is nothing left for anyone.  This is our reservation; do you know what that means? Well it’s supposed to mean this place is reserved for the Native people that were here.

And of course, the statement “being left out there alone.” I’m pretty sure if all the non-members packed their belongings and families and moved off the reservation, not only would we be ok and able to self-sustain, we would flourish.

I will end this with your kids’ blood quantum of 1/8 Blackfeet-Cherokee statement you made awhile back. That actually explains a lot, and gives me a good idea on what happened. You must have run out of gas trying to get your kids to their homeland, or you’re lost.  Browning is three hours further north. But I will tell you this, Mr. Gale, you would never make it in Browning. Those Natives don’t put up with half the ignorance and none of the racism we put up with on our reservation. Love it or leave it.
