Editor,
I’m writing this letter to let the good citizens of Lake County know that in a few months it will be fire season. With the few controlled burns that have already caused property damages, the Polson fire department is right. If you are going to burn make sure that you have lots of water, a rake and a shovel; burn on cool days, but do not burn when the wind is blowing. And always watch the 10 p.m. weather forecast to see what the weather will be like.
My advice is also if you are planning to burn please call the Lake County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number at (406) 883-7301 and let dispatch know that you will be burning and what you are burning, so that if someone drives by on Highway 93 and sees smoke, they won’t call in and say that they saw smoke from a distance. So again, if you are planning to burn, please call (406) 883-7301 and let dispatch know that you are planning to burn.
Thank you, Lake County citizens, for your time.
