The Mission Bulldog tennis team has hit the season’s busy time as they look toward the state tournament.
“Karl Daniels has been playing some good tennis that culminated in a come-from-behind win at the Bigfork Tournament on Saturday against Libby’s Jason Schnackenbey. Karl was down at 5-6 and came back to win the next three games for a win of 8-6 in the eight-game pro set,” coach Kimimi Ashley said. “That was a good step in showing Karl’s maturity this year. He kept playing hard and didn’t get discouraged … was a good win for him.”
While they may not have walked away with all wins, Nate Doll and Jamie Mullins showed improvement in each set at the tourney, Ashley noted.
“They are both so competitive and give it their all when they are playing. It was good to see them get a win on their first game and then to have good, close sets with Troy and Libby,” she said. “With the No. 2 doubles and No. 4 singles seeds needing to be determined for our state tournament team this week, these two players might be making some changes in the lineup. We shall see what is produced at practices and in the meets this week.”
The Bulldogs took on Loyola at home Tuesday and will face Ronan in Ronan on Thursday before heading to Troy on Friday. Mission will be at home against Eureka at 11 a.m. on Saturday and then will play Bigfork at 3 p.m.
