Resentment, discrimination unnecessary

Editor,
The letters written by W. Elliot, M. Gale and L. Ingraham are just crazy. It’s surprising after these people have lived this long on the reservation, they cannot handle the fact that they still live on the Flathead Indian Reservation. Sorry to burst their bubble, but no matter how many letters they write or how many more non-members live here, it will always be home to the Salish, Kootenai and Pend d’Oreille.
It’s not “whacko” that the tribes will take over Kerr Dam as W. Elliott tries to make it sound. It’s a pretty smart awesome opportunity for my people. You say that we would raise the electricity rates on non-members to drive out the non-members — sorry buddy, but we’re not that heartless to do that.
The letters that M. Gale writes are clearly resentful against natives. He makes it seem like we’re just going to cut off all the water to the people that need it. Chill out with your letters and quit pretending you’ve lived here your whole life.
And as for L. Ingraham, your letter you wrote a few weeks ago quoting our past chiefs to make it sound like we really needed the government was a little immature on your part. If you look at the big picture, we never needed the government. We managed to live off the land and take care of it just as well. It wasn’t until the government came in and forced us onto the reservation that we needed the government. We weren’t able to roam our aboriginal territory and live off the land anymore.
As for any other people being resentful to the tribes, there’s no need to hate or discriminate; just appreciate that we all live on this awesome piece of land we all call home. And don’t forget that it was our home first.
