RONAN — The Maidens continued to struggle with roster changes this week as Ronan fell at home to Hamilton Saturday and on the road at Frenchtown Tuesday.

The Maidens are still adjusting to the loss of Tuesday Salmon and Ashley Lynch, who are both out with possible season-ending injuries.

"Anytime you make changes, you have to adjust mentally," Ronan coach Naomi Mock said. "Volleyball is a mental game, for the most part. All we can do is to move forward and try to find a good rotation for when we face Polson this week."

Ronan came up short on the road at Hamilton Tuesday as the Broncs took the match, 17-25, 25-22, 25-12, 25-16.

"We did fine against Hamilton, we just had another one where the ball didn't fall on the right side of the net," Mock said. "We did some wonderful things. Had some great movement. Things just didn't work out."

Alice Van Guten led the Maiden effort with 11 kills and Marissa McCrea added 26 digs.

Ronan was able to pick up a win in the opening game of the match before the Broncs came back to take the next three.

"We came out and looked great in the opening game and then we relaxed. I haven't yet figured out how to get it through to them that they need to keep the momentum from that first game," Mock said.

Taylor Lynch added nine assists and Mariah Cheff had four aces in the loss.

The Maidens had another tough night at home Saturday as Frenchtown came away with a three-game sweep, 25-15, 25-13, 25-23.

"We had some girls that had good days and a few who had bad days. In the end, it was three games and out for us against Frenchtown," Mock said.

Tailyr Irvine and Whisper Ivins each had five kills to lead the Maidens in the loss while Irvine added a block, McCrea had six digs, Taylor Lynch led in assists with seven and Lynch added a pair of aces.

"It's somewhat frustrating for us because we have been having to adjust to all these changes lately, and that is not fun," Mock said. "Any kind of change is going to be hard if you don't have time to adjust to it."

The Maidens finish out the regular season on the road Friday as they travel to take on the Lady Pirates in Polson.
