Editor,

Regarding the Republicans’ dire need for a credible and electable candidate to counter whomever the Democrats decide to back to fill the rather large and polished shoes of Barack Obama, let it be said that I grew up Republican; I voted Republican most of my adult life; and it has only been in the last years that because of the terrible choices presented to “we the people” that I have appeared to be a Democrat.

I say this because I realize that my many letters to the editor appear to cast me as a solid Democrat. I am a solid American. And being an American, I believe that honesty, integrity, good judgment, wisdom, intelligence and the ability to lead effectively should be what motivates an American to make the choice in the voting booth.

Having said that, here is just one piece of advice for the Republican Party right now. Get off the kick of trying to vilify and castigate Hillary Clinton through the Benghazi incident, and spend your time and energy on revamping your message, your mission, your goals, and motivating your array of presidential candidates with positive messages of hope, change, and peace so that “we the people” can have a reasonable choice. Your negative attacks have not worked before and will not work again. You need to change your tactics.

That’s about it for now. But if Hillary Clinton should choose to run, your party could be in deep trouble. And I know I speak for many others on this subject.
