CHARLO — In a graduation address with props, graduation speaker Christina Madsen, aided by senior Brandon Bruning, unfurled a tape measure 82 feet across the Charlo gym. Why did Madsen chose 82? Because 82 is the average age people live.
She showed the graduating seniors the length of high school in comparison to their whole lives. She and senior Hayley Berkram also measured the length of getting a medical degree and four years in the service.
Madsen exorted the graduates not to be average and to make the hard choices. One thing all successful people have in common, she said, is their willingness to do things they don’t want to do to succeed.
Following Valedictorian Trinda Foust’s and Salutatorian Mackenzie Savage’s addresses, the class received their diplomas from School Board Chair Shane Reum and Charlo Superintendent Thom Peck.
Berkram created a senior video, with photos of each senior from childhood to graduation.
