MISSION VALLEY- The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is seeking public assistance to locate seven violent and or sexual offenders, according to a press release.

Lake County Undersheriff Daniel Yonkin said it is the responsibility of the sheriff’s office to make sure violent or sexual offenders keep their registries accurate and current, and in the past it has been difficult to keep track of these offenders.

“We have to deal with trying to figure out where they might be; some of them they don’t bother to tell us,” Yonkin said.

Of the 167 known violent or sexual offenders in Lake County, all but the following seven are accounted for: Robert McCauley, 50; Kevin Horsley, 50; Joseph Lovegrove, 34; Emanuel LittleWolf, 48; Jeffery Cates-Weaselhead, 29; Apolinar Torres, 30; and Steven Scranage, 46.

“Seeking public assistance is a different approach. We’ve worked with the U.S. Marshals on several different occasions and the state sexual and violent offender compliance officer ... These are the seven that we’ve exhausted every effort to locate,” Yonkin said.

Yonkin said police have no indication that these offenders still live at their previous residences. The notice is posted on Facebook and posters will hang in the sheriff’s office.

Failure by violent and sexual offenders to comply with registry requirements is a felony offense.

The county attorney will decide whether or not to press charges.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office asks that anyone with information on the whereabouts of these individuals contact either the SVOR compliance division at (406) 883-8024 or the Lake County Sheriff’s Office at (406) 883-7301.
