Editor,

As I sat here reading the last Tribal Council meeting minutes approved May 7, 2013 all I could feel was outrage towards our Tribal Council members. Come on, tribal members, we don’t have to settle for this.

The Tribal Council is totally ignoring the petition that was turned in to them. They are failing to deal with us in good faith. If we were all making the salaries our councilmen earn, we could be benevolent towards the future with the settlement money, but we’re not. The councilmen are squirreling away the settlement money thinking they have solved the issue. We are not going away, councilmen, you woke up these sleeping Indians.

If all the tribal members gave a donation of $25 each, we could hire a very good attorney to fight our Tribal Council. It’s a very, very sad state of affairs when elected councilmen make the people they represent fight for their own constitutional rights.
