Janet Arlene Davis Kaschke
POLSON – Janet Arlene Davis Kaschke, 78, passed away May 29, 2013, at Kalispell Regional Medical Hospital.
Janet was born in Martinsdale, Mont., on January 26, 1935, to Elmer and Althea Davis. She graduated from Harlowtown High School in 1953 and then attended college in Bozeman. She graduated with a nursing degree from Deaconess School of Nursing, a division of Montana State College in September of 1956. Her first job as a nurse was working for the Civil Service Department of Public Health in Browning.
On March 22, 1957, she married Bill Young and remained married until 1966. They had two children, Wayne Howard and Melanie Rae. On Aug. 16, 1968, she married Marvin R. Kaschke and they had one daughter, Petrina Renee’. They resided at the National Bison Range from 1966-1977 and in Lakeview, Ore. from 1977-1988. In 1988 she and her husband Marv retired to Polson where they ran Kaschke Tree Farm and spent the last 45 years together.
Janet was an avid gardener, bowler and cook. She also loved crossword puzzles and T.V. game shows. Throughout the years, she was very active in the Lions and Elks clubs. She was a good seamstress and craft person, often giving Christmas ornaments to the tree customers during the Christmas season.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Bill; her parents Elmer and Althea Davis; her brother Elmer Eugene Davis; and her grandson Zachary. Survivors include her husband Marvin R. Kaschke; sisters Sharon Merrifield (husband Eldon), Jo Ann Good (husband Doug); son Wayne Kaschke (wife Debbie); daughters Melanie McCadden (husband Kevin) and Petrina White (husband Dean); grandchildren Aaron, Amanda and Zoe Kaschke, Alexandra and Will McCadden, and Brady and Adam White.
