News from the Montana Department of Transportation

RONAN - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is seeking comments on a proposal regarding roadway safety improvements on Back Road (State Secondary Highway 354) west of Ronan.

The project includes dual oversized stop signs with post-mounted flashing beacons activated by approaching vehicles. The project will also include upgrading other intersection-related signs as necessary.

The purpose of the project is to alert drivers on Back Road of the approaching stop condition at Round Butte Road (Secondary 211).

Construction of the improvements is scheduled to take place in 2014, depending on completion of design and availability of funding.

No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.
