Editor,

On Oct. 26, 2008 at about 10 p.m. Dan Yonkin visited my home to investigate my wife’s unattended death. He was tired after completing a day’s work as detective-coroner with the Lake County Sheriff’s Department. He had spent much of the day working on a murder-suicide in the town of Arlee.

Though tired, he was gentle, kind and compassionate to a grieving husband. He investigated with efficiency and empathy. He had to complete questionnaires and move Edie’s body on the bed to take evidence pictures while I assisted.

After the investigation he stayed with me until the mortuary personnel took her body away. He continued to stay until he felt I had gained my composure. At 12:30 a.m. he left in an exhausted condition.

That night was the first time I had met Dan and he made very positive impression on me. He is mature in outlook, a moderate that can and will work effectively with any citizen regardless of political affiliation. His many years in law enforcement will help in the understanding of complex and difficult issues. No matter what your political affiliation is, you will be well represented by Dan Yonkin.
