Melvin Richard Mohler

POLSON — Melvin Richard Mohler, 90, passed away Friday, March 8, 2013, at his home in Polson.

Mel was born on Oct. 25, 1922, to Harry and Mayme Mohler in Octavia, Neb. On Oct. 14, 1945, he married Edna Marie Ludden. He graduated from the University of Nebraska, earning his degree in vocational agriculture and played tackle for his beloved Cornhuskers.

In 1955, Melvin began work that he continued for 13 years, as the assistant director of the Pine Hills School for Boys in Miles City. In 1968 Mel became the director of the Swan River Youth Camp. He retired in 1994 and they moved to Polson. Mel attended the New Life Christian Center. To be greeted with his big booming voice and the huge grin on his dear face, you knew you were loved and perfect to him.

Mel was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers and sisters; son Mike Mohler and Edna, his wife of 57 years.

He is survived by his daughter Marian Burke (Johnny) of Kalispell; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother Marvin Mohler of David City, Neb.; sister Donna Graham of Albuquerque, N.M.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Join us in a celebration of his life at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at the New Life Christian Center in Polson. Donations may be made in Mel’s name to the Mission Valley Christian Academy in Polson.
