Editor,
Tribal Council, I, Thomas A. Lozeau, Jr., member of CSKT, request you expel Council Member Ron Trahan.
Tribal Constitution, Article V – Vacancies and Removal From Office, Section 2: any councilman who is proven guilty of improper conduct or gross neglect of duty may be expelled from the Council by a two-thirds vote of the membership of the Council voting in favor of such expulsion.
Bylaws – Article I – The Tribal Council, Section 6: oath of office, “to carry out faithfully and impartially.”
During the July 5 quarterly meeting, while I had the floor during open discussion, which I signed up for, Ron yelled out “You people are greedy. This is all bulls**t. I don’t have to listen to this. I’m leaving.” He left.
I take his action to mean Ron quit, walked off the job. No request by Ron to the chairman to be excused.
I have never signed any petition for a 100-percent payout.
A. “You people” is derogatory and racist.
B. To have a council member call tribal members “greedy” is unacceptable.
C. To have a council member call tribal members’ rights “bulls**t” is unacceptable. Article VII – Bill of Rights – Section 3: All members of the Confederated Tribes may enjoy without hindrance freedom of worship, speech, press and assembly. Not impartial.
D. “I don’t have to listen to this.” Bylaws – Article I – The Tribal Council – Section II: It shall be the duty of each member of the Tribal Council to make reports to the district from which he is elected, concerning the proceedings of the Tribal Council. Unacceptable.
E. “I’m leaving.” No request to the chairman or council to be excused. Unacceptable. You walk off the job you should be fired. You are served your written statement.
Thomas L. Lozeau, Jr.
