Helen Freshour Smith
RONAN — On June 29, 2013, Helen Freshour Smith passed away in Ronan. She was born Dec. 23, 1921, in St. Ignatius, to George and Zulema Freshour. Helen served in the Women’s Army Corp in WWII, and after the war returned to St. Ignatius and worked for Beckwith‘s. From Beckwith’s, she moved to the power office of the BIA until her retirement in 1979. She married Lyndon Smith on June 1, 1948.
She is preceded in death by her husband Lyndon; brothers Elmer and Walter; and daughter Kathy.
She is survived by two children, Clifford (Barbara) of Polson and Greg of Pasco, Wash; sister Lois (Red) Delaney of St. Ignatius; brothers Gene (Jeannie) Freshour of Canyon City, Ore. and Don (Mona) Freshour of Helena; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, July 19, at Mission Valley United Methodist Church.
