BIG ARM — Two Polson residents were killed in a two-vehicle wreck near mile marker 74, just north of Big Arm on July 9 about 7:30 p.m.
According to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Eric Thoreson, a northbound car drifted into the southbound lane and crashed into a vehicle with a driver and a passenger.
Helen Gryde, 71, was trapped in the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Wayne Gryde, 74, was sent to Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Polson but died on the way.
The northbound vehicle was driven by a 16-year-old male juvenile, who got out of his pickup on his own steam but also was transported to Providence St. Joseph.
Investigation into the accident is ongoing, Trooper Thoreson said, but said law enforcement doesn’t believe road conditions, speed, alcohol or drugs, or a cell phone were involved.
